Modified Unit Survey

WHAT IS IT?

A Modified Unit Survey is usually a paper based Survey. The purpose of this Survey is to look at proposed modifications to a Unit to ensure that they will not adversely impact upon the quality of education and training and the safety of the intern and patients. Examples of modifications which may require a Modified Unit Survey include, but are not limited to a:

  • Link with another Unit which impacts upon the type and/or amount of clinical experience
  • Change in supervision
  • Change in rostering
  • Change in caseload e.g. an additional VMO appointed
  • Change to the number of junior doctors within the Unit
  • Relocation to another campus within the Facility

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

A Modified Unit Survey should not usually take more than three months to complete.

HOW OFTEN IS IT DONE?

A Modified Unit Survey is done when changes are proposed to Units.
