The Postgraduate Medical Council of Queensland (PMCQ) - formerly the Postgraduate Medical Education Foundation of Queensland Ltd is a not-for-profit public company. It is governed by a Board of Directors and has an operational staff.
The PMCQ has dual roles:
PMCQ has been appointed as the nominated delegate for The Medical Board of Queensland to undertake activities related to the accreditation of intern training programs and intern training secondment programs and to provide advice and recommendation in that respect to The Medical Board of Queensland.
This is demonstrated through our involvement in several key areas. These include the accreditation and development of Standards in the Medical Education of Postgraduate Medical Officers. Our role in Education includes the development of curriculum frameworks for postgraduate medical students in their first two years of clinical placements. This includes clinical placements objectives and the expected outcomes of that placement. PMCQ has a long history of working collaboratively with Queensland Health through the development and implementation of projects. Some projects are completed through the provision of funding from the Medical Training Review Panel from the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.
