ABOUT US

The Postgraduate Medical Council of Queensland (PMCQ) is a not-for-profit public company that is governed by a Board of Directors. We have a small operational team.

PMCQ's role in supporting safe quality prevocational medical education is achieved through our various services, including:

  • Accreditation of all intern training positions and facilities in Queensland
  • Coordination and support of the Queensland Junior Medical Officer Forum and associated projects and research
  • Liaison and collaboration with key medical education stakeholders, including Queensland Health and the Medical Board of Australia
  • Advocacy on national and state medical education matters
  • Recognition for innovation and excellence through annual Queensland Junior Doctor and Clinical Educator of the Year awards

More Information about PMCQ

PMCQ is delegating authority by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) to accredit intern training facilities and positions across Queensland. We provide advice and recommendations to the MBA with regard to intern training program and position accreditation.

PMCQ has a long history of collaboration with medical education stakeholders at the state and national levels. PMCQ played a central role in the development of a curriculum framework for junior doctors, the establishment of a national prevocational medical accreditation framework, the growth of accredited training positions into rural and remote locations, innovative training positions, private and non hospital settings.
